Ideas and things you can do to help

Please print out the Ban Damage Page (Deaths, Injuries, Rape, and more) and the Ban Loss Database (Money and business lost due to bans) and bring them to your politicians. Tell them ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! This failed experiment in human behavior is killing people and it has to stop now. Death certificates from "smoking" are zero, while death certificates from smoking bans and making a legal product un-politically correct are rising.

Smoking bans force you to hang a sign and tell your patrons there is no smoking.
They DO NOT force you to enforce the law.
NY is doing it and so can you!
Florida Judge Agrees!
Administrative Judge Michael Parrish notes that there is no legal requirement for a bar owner to take ''specific action'' when someone is smoking in the bar.
Texas Judge Agrees!
U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks said the businesses must post "no smoking" signs and remove ashtrays and other smoking accoutrements. However, the owner can no longer be held liable for not taking additional steps if patrons continue to smoke.

Please note: This makes all smoking bans illegal unless your State or town wants to train you, supply liability insurance, sign you on as police AND make it a law that anyone they want must be forced into police duty. Your 16 year old son washing dishes in a restaurant would have to go to the police academy because he may have to uphold the smoking ban law. Remove these un-enforceable laws from your books NOW to avoid law suits. Every worker has the right to sue you when hurt, your ban opens you up for liability.

What you can do to protect your rights - or expect to loose them! By Robert Deitz. Maybe you have other ideas? Share them with people - but most importantly just do SOMETHING. Write a letter or e-mail right after reading this. Then do it again next week. Then get better at it by next month! Hand this out to people who are smoking at the curb at the Airport, not spending money inside!

... Print out copies of the Newsletter, (with permission from the business owner) hang them in bars and in the restrooms.

... Print out the Newsletter URL down a sheet of paper.  Cut the URLs into strips and hand them to people you see smoking.

... Print out copies of the Ban Damage page and give it to policemen. Ask if they want to deal with stuff like this. Also warn them that some smokers will phone in to the smoke police at about 12 or 1 in the morning and complain like hell, that there is a person lighting up a smoke!! You want the smoke police to come down to the bar right away before he slips out the door. If they can't come 'right away' complain to them, “What is the point of having smoke police if you can't 'catch them in the 'act?” And some Antis will call the police on places that do not have anyone smoking in them, just to give that owner a hard time. Do the police really want to play middleman to every person with a grudge against someone else? Aren't they supposed to be out fighting real crime instead of taking action on bogus complaints from both sides of the issues?

... If you live in an area that has smoking places, then shop, eat and entertain only at those places.

... Vote.  Find out the attitude of your communities local politicians and vote accordingly.

... Be educated.  Read all of the studies on second hand smoke, even if you choose to do them one at a time, one a week for example.  Learn to speak about the results, so that you can educate people, even if it is only to your smoking friends.  If you don't want to confront a stranger, that is fine, but if you tell your fellow smokers, some of them may be more outspoken than you, and they will inform more people.

...Network.  Say hi to fellow smokers that you run across in your daily life.  We should at least be nice to each other, since the Antis are not nice to us.  Hire a smoker to do a job you need done, and let them smoke; housekeeper, gardener, etc.  When traveling, go only places where smokers are welcome.

... Make a stand.  If you live in an area that has no smoking in eating places, pack a lunch to take to work for you and several friends and invite those who would normally go to a restaurant, and have your lunch where you can smoke.  Or enjoy a picnic outside of an Anti owned establishment.  Invite friends to your home for a BBQ, get back to the old fashioned home entertaining concept and keep your money out of Anti owned establishments.  How do you know who is just a victim of the ban like yourself?  Support the places who fought the ban, and boycott the ones who not only found joy in the ban, but bragged about it in the media.  Hire a victim restaurant to cater your next party at home instead of going out.

... Spend wisely.  Find the cheapest possible place to buy cigarettes. There is no point in giving the government any more money than we have to.  And, if you really want to make a point, remember that you can change brands, roll your own, or even grow your own.

... Promote tolerance.  Be sure to educate your children that people have different habits, some they will like and some that they do not, and that we all need to get along in this world.  Discrimination based on personal habits is not good.  Stepping on people whether it is because they are gay, black, fat, a smoker, a drinker, a fashion moron, etc. is not acceptable.  Encourage them to actually get to know people, and if they at that time do not like them, teach them that any kind of insults, abuse, negative comments or legislation against them is not acceptable.  Teach them that if everyone was the same, not only would our world be boring, but it would be absolute anarchy.  Point out that if everyone was like your son / daughter that the whole world would be doing _____ (fill in with what ever you want).  They will get the point.
